Rebecca Rauber Emporia, Kansas — The community mourns the tragic death of Rebecca Rauber, a 28-year-old second-grade teacher at Riverside Elementary School, whose body was found Sunday after she went missing late Friday night. Her passing has deeply affected family, friends, students, and colleagues across Emporia.
Rebecca, an Emporia State University alumna and dedicated educator, was last seen leaving a popular downtown bar at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday, without her phone, keys, jacket, or purse. Surveillance footage captured her walking on city streets shortly afterward, prompting immediate concern when she failed to return home.
A large search effort involving local law enforcement, search teams, and community volunteers was launched amid challenging winter conditions. On Sunday, officers located Rebecca’s body in a wooded area about 300 yards south of where she was last seen on video.
